They are not calling you, "I am suffering. Please come," but it is your business to go and let them know that "You are suffering. You take this method." That is the way of becoming very quickly recognized by Krsna. Otherwise, if you think, "They are not understanding, what is the use of going there? Let me sleep," that is not good. They are not understanding; still, you have to go. Then Krsna will take that "He is laboring so hard for My sake." Never mind he is successful. It doesn't matter. But you are working hard for Krsna. That is noted down. So our business is to be recognized by Krsna. Whether one man is converted or not converted, that is not our business. We shall try our best. But Krsna must see that I am giving service to Krsna. That's all. That is wanted. Not that you have to judge that you have approached so many men; nobody became Krsna conscious. That doesn't matter. But you have gone there. You have endeavored your sincere effort. That is recognized by Krsna. That is the order of Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Yare dekha, tare kaha 'krsna'-upadesa: [Cc. Madhya 7.128] "Whomever you meet, you give him, you inform him the instruction of Krsna."

Caitanya Mahaprabhu never said that "You see that he has actually become Krsna conscious." Never says. You simply say and go and say. That is your business. It is not that you have to see that he has become Krsna conscious. It is not so easy to become Krsna conscious. It is not so easy. It will take, bahunam janmanam ante [Bg. 7.19], after many, many births. But you have to do your duty. Go and preach. Yare dekha, tare kaha 'krsna'-upadesa [Cc. Madhya 7.128]. Your duty is finished. Of course, you will try to convert him. If he is not converted, that is not deviation of your duty. You have to simply go and speak. Just like when I came to your country, I never expected any success because I knew, "As soon as I will say, 'No illicit sex, no meat-eating,' they will reject me immediately." (laughter) So I was not hopeful at all.

Devotee (1): They are so attached. Prabhupada: Yes. But it is your kindness that you accepted me. But I never expected. I never expected that "These people will accept." I never expected.
Hari-sauri: So simply if we rely on Krsna... Prabhupada: Yes, that is our only business. Hari-sauri: And if we look for results, then... Prabhupada: And we should do our duty as prescribed by the spiritual master. Guru-krsna-krpaya [Cc. Madhya 19.151]. Then both sides, you will be favored, from the spiritual master and from Krsna. And that is the success. My Guru Maharaja was publishing one paper, Dayinika (?) Nadiya Prakash. It was worth two paisa or one paisa. So if a brahmacari could sell a few copies, he would have been so glad. You see? The collection was not even four annas. Still, he was so glad that "Oh, you have distributed so much." Our business is to carry out the order, not to see success. Success is not so easy. That is not so easy.

Morning walk May 20 1975, Melborne Austrailia

I like this picture!!!
Srila Prabhupada Ki Jai

Hare Krishna Devotees
Please accept my humble obsciences
All Glories to Srila Prabhupada

A devotee sent me this - is funny with a deep meaning
Try and guess what's going on before you scroll down.

______________________________________

The lady is proudly polishing the cage (material body) at the expense of the poor dying parrot (soul). So I was going on: "Excuse me, just a second, excuse me...." but no one stopped for about half an hour. Then one old lady who was sitting at a table outside a coffee shop called out to me, "If I was you, I'd go home!" I smiled at her, and thought to myself, No, I'm going to keep trying and Krishna is going to reward me for my determination. So I kept trying and waiting for Krishna's mercy.

After about 5 minutes, a man came up to me. It was the same man who had taken a Light of the Bhagavat from me earlier on. He was very serious and started asking me a lot of questions about what I was doing, about the Hare Krishnas, and why I was there passing out spiritual books. I was actually a bit worried that he had had a second thought and had decided to return the book and get his money back. In the end, though, he seemed very satisfied with all of my answers, and taking his wallet out of his pocket, he said, "Well, I've been to the bank and I can give you a bit more money now." He gave me two twenty pound notes, thanked me, and walked away. I glanced over at the old lady outside the coffee shop. She was as surprised as I was. I thanked Krishna and continued trying to stop another person.

Transcendental book distribution ki jaya!

Dear Prabhus

Please accept my humble obeisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

Last Saturday I went out to the LA airport with Bhrgupati Prabhu, Prema Sankirtana Prabhu, and Dvarakesh Prabhu. They were all having a normal day, but I was struggling like anything. I was in an energy crisis because my thyroid gland is less than half way functional. A few of the many things the thyroid regulates are the energy of the body and the stamina, or energy reserves. After an hour or so I felt completely exhausted and making the body move around felt like such an over-endeavor. Everyone I presented the books to could feel my lack of energy. Despite feeling like I was dragging a corpse around, I was determined to persevere. After four and a half hours one of the south-central collectors gave me a dollar out of pity and I used the opportunity to give him a small book. Two hours later, someone finally accepted a Bhagavad-gita and gave a ten dollar donation. I was thinking, "Well that is something. At least I can go back to the temple and report a score." Even though we leave at four-thirty, I decided to just go back to the van at four o'clock and read from the Journey of Self-Discovery.

When I got to the first terminal, the last terminal before the lot we parked in, I saw that the terminal was empty save one mataji. I figured I might as well give it a shot. I stopped her and presented the Bhagavad-gita to her. Before I was able to get even a little bit through my presentation she asked, "Does this have anything to do with Krishna?" I was shocked! Did I hear my ears correctly? She immediately followed with, "I love Krishna, and especially Radharani!" I was astonished. How did she find out about Sri Sri Radha and Krishna? Then she asked where she could get the Gita and if I was selling it. I told her that as monks we do not sell the books, people simply help with a donation. She immediately pulled out a twenty and gave it to me. She appologized that she could not give more because she had to catch a taxi and had a few business expenses. She could not believe that I was telling her about Krishna and said that today was her lucky day, being 11/11. She also mentioned that she was going through some difficult times and could use some spiritual guidance.

I was so impressed that I gave her a Nectar of Instruction as a free gift and I explained some more about the philosophy. I told her about chanting and setting up an altar in her home. She said, "I already have an altar! I have a statue of Krishna, and Radharani too! I always put flowers on the altar and water." I was amazed! I could not believe that she had Deities! A friend of hers gave Them to her five years ago, but neither of them knew about the arca-vigraha. I told her that she should offer all her food to the Deities first before she eats any. I pulled out a Bhakti, The Art of Eternal Love book and gave it to her also. I wanted her to have it for its contents, but especially for the Krishna Consciousness at Home part in the back. When I gave it to her she said, "Oh, this is too much! I have to give you something else." She went into her purse and pulled out another twenty. I thanked her very much and she caught her taxi.

After she left I had fifteen minutes until four-thirty. I was heading back to the van in ecstacy, but before I crossed the street to the parking lot I had second thoughts. I figured, "Well I am feeling enthusiastic now and I still have fiftee minutes, lets see what else can happen." I picked up another Gita and went back to the first terminal. After several rejections, I saw another mataji sitting on a bench. I introduced myself as a monk and showed the Bhagavad-gita to her. I also showed her the quotes on the back of the book from Gandi, Emerson, and Thoreau. She said, "Those are my favorite role models!" She asked if she could buy the book, but I told her that as monks we don't sell them; people simply help with a donation. She asked how much the donation should be. "It is from the heart, do the best you can" I replied. She said, "Don't tell me that or I will give you everything in my wallet. I suppose it must have some symbolism...." While she fiddled around in her purse she mentioned what a good, auspicious day it has been for her. I told her that that is what the last person said too. I mentioned that the last person said it was because it was 11/11. She paused and then took out a couple of bills folded up and said,

"Well here is one 0 one since it is 11/11." There was a one dollar bill on the outside so I did not really understand what she meant, but I accepted the donation for the Gita and thanked her. I put the donation in my pocket without looking at it and headed back to the van. When I got back to the van I thought I might as well see what she gave me. When I unfolded the dollar bill, I saw that it wrapped up a hundred dollar bill!

From this experience we can understand. We are not the doer!
